Atletico De Kolkata and Delhi Dynamos cancelled each other in yesterday’s game, we take a look at the best and the worst players on the pitch.
The stars
P.Elias, Shylo and Josemi
Pavel Elias’ screamer in the 73rd minute gave Delhi Dynamos a deserving point against Atletico De Kolkata. His goal was undoubtedly one of the best goals of the inaugural Indian Super League with Borja’s first match strike. The Czech midfielder’s bullet strike helped his team register the first point in the ongoing tournament.
Shylo’s trickery and pace from the left-wing troubled Denzil Franco repeatedly. The midfielder on the wings was a constant threat against Atletico de Kolkata and ran up and down on the field throughout the game. The former Mohan Bagan player looks a good prospect for Delhi Dynamos and is a delight to watch.
Josemi’s overall defending against Delhi Dynamos was outstanding. The Spaniard believes in no nonsense defending and looked rigid in the heart of defense for the home side. His decision making in the center of the defense is what makes him a good reader of the game.
The Flops
L.Garcia, Masih and Raymaekers
Luis Garcia looked a bit tired in today’s clash vs Delhi Dynamos. He overran in most occasions and was not best with his one-twos with Fikru Teferra. The veteran started hobbling in the first-half and was substituted during the break. His performance was disappointing considering standards he set in the last few games.
Rakesh Masih came in as a substitute for Luis Garcia in the second-half and was a spineless player. He became the second player for the Kolkata team to get a red card in the final minutes of the game after Borja’s red in the previous fixture. With two clumsy challenges, the referee didn’t hesitate to send him off.
Wim Raymaekers had a good first game against Pune FC and also did enjoy the first half against Atletico de Kolkata. But things changed for the tall Belgian when he tripped Fikru in the penalty box, awarding a priceless penalty to the hosts. It was utter stupidity shown by the experienced defender and was rightly punished for the foul.
