The Stars

Dudu, Katsouranis and Roy

Dudu Omagbemi opened the scoring with a terrific header from Davide Colombo’s cross against Atletico de Kolkata. The Nigerian was swift in his movements and terrorized the defense of the home team relentlessly. He outpaced Josemi on a number of occasions with his trigger runs. The FC Pune striker was adjudged the Hero of the match for his overall work-rate against Atletico de Kolkata.

Kostas Katsouranis was outstanding against the hosts and scored a gem of a goal for his side. He netted the goal with a curling out-footer, which left Subhasish Roy stunned. The Greek skipper showed blistering speed while scoring and became a prime figure against the league leaders.

Subhasish Roy’s back to back first-half saves had kept away the blushes for Atletico de Kolkata. Otherwise, it would have been a complete humiliation for the table toppers in front of their home crowd. Roy thwarted Goossens’s shot in spectacular fashion and in the next moment saved a goal from a corner-kick. The Kolkata stopper did his best but couldn’t avoid his team’s first loss in the Indian Super league.

The Flops

Nato, Garcia and Pritam

Ofentse Nato yet again showed defensive frailties against FC Pune. The midfielder failed to shield Dudu from heading the ball in the net. He was caught in position on a number of times and was yellow carded for fouling Kostas.

Luis Garcia was astonishingly not at his standards with Atletico de Kolkata. The skipper yesterday seemed with no responsibility by hardly moving a yard or two while trailing. His passes were wayward for his teammates with no real penetration.

Pritam Kotal’s poor form for FC Pune continued. The full-back committed a lot of fouls and was not upto the mark for his team.
