Atletico De Kolkata’s winger Baljit Sahni was pleased with his team’s efforts after their 2-0 victory over NorthEast United in the Indian Super League at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati last night. With 2 wins in 2 games, Baljit believes his side can romp towards the title and can be a team to beat.

A 15th minute strike from Fikru Teferra put his side ahead in the first half. But in the second half, the story looked completely different as the hosts NorthEast United FC came out all guns blazing looking for an equalizer. And their was a moment of concern for Atletico De Kolkata as they were reduced to 10 men after a red card shown to Borja Fernandes. Fortunately, nothing went wrong for the away side as Sahni’s team scored the 2nd goal in the dying seconds of the match through Jakub Podany.

Though the Indian attacker was denied a goal from Greek keeper Tzorvas, he looked with smiles all over as his substitution in the final minutes of the game helped Sanju Pradhan pave the second goal for his side.

“We can be a tough challenge to anyone in this league and we will fight,” the former JCT forward was quoted as saying by ISL’s official website.

Sahni feels the continuous training and dedication is paying off and the players are mixing with each other and scoring goals for the team.

“We have been practicing together for a good 1 and a half months so the combination is good with the Spanish players, African players and also the Indian players so we are mixing and gelling well and it shows in the performance,” added the Indian forward.

Atletico De Kolkata, who will head back their city, will want to continue their winning run in the Indian Super League when they face Harm Van Veldhoven’s Delhi Dynamos at the Salt Lake stadium on 19th October.
