1st edition of Footietalks : Bangalore Independents FC striker Kv Adithya

Welcome to our very first edition of Footietalks. We go all about Bangalore and interview local players who have made outstanding contributions to Indian football. Be it as an ex-player, player or as a manager! Let’s get cracking then!

We interview one of Bangalore’s brightest talents, and not to mention, one of our dearest friend, Kv Adithya. He plies his trade for Bangalore independents FC as a Forward/Striker. Adithya has been a top scorer in the each of the leagues he has played in, the ‘C’, ‘B’ and the ‘A’ divisions. It makes us even proud that he started playing in our very own REBELS FC!

We went about asking him first, a few basic questions; about himself and his favorites.

Q : Name
A : Adithya KV

Q : Age
A : 22

Q : Preferred playing foot:
A : Right

Q : When did you start playing football?
A : At the age of 11.

Q : Favorite club?
A : Manchester United.

Q : Favourite national  team?
A : Brazil

Q : Favourite to win World Cup 2014
A : Brazil

Q : Favourite Indian club and player?
A : Bengaluru FC; I M Vijayan.

Soon after, we asked him about his thoughts on Indian football and his experiences.

Q : Why did you choose football?
A : I found my passion here.

Q : How often do you practice and where?
A : Whenever I get time; Austin town grounds and KG grounds, near ISCKON temple.

Q : How important do you think fitness is to this sport?
A : When you reach a professional level in this game, fitness is the only thing that differentiates you from the rest.

Q : Do you see enough importance given to you during your training?
A : Yes! Initially they go for fit players, and then they better you.

Q : What do you think about the football scene in India,  especially Bangalore?
A : Really under appreciated. It needs to be developed from a mediocre level. Not a lot of people know about the local leagues. Not a lot of effort is put into making people aware of the local leagues either.

Q : What is missing?  What is that you need, but you don’t get that helps your football training?
A : *LAUGHS* Where do I start… There is not enough support from my family. Plus there is not enough money in it.

Q : What do you think about the coaching?  Do you think right coaching will make a difference in a footballers career, especially when given training in the early stages?
A : Coaches in India are very orthodox. They have a very traditional mindset.  They all have the same approach and emphasize on passing and do not appreciate dribbling.

We then asked him what he would do if he was the President of IFFA and how he would change Football in India.

Q : If you were made the president of IFFA, what would be the change you would bring?
A : Bring down corruption and the influence of politics in football.

So there you have it. Our first edition of Footietalks. We thank Kv Adithya for taking the time out for talking to us. We wish him all the best for the future!
