Borussia Dortmund beat Bundesliga rivals FC Bayern München 2-0 to win the 2014 Supercup at Signal Iduna Park.

Borussia Dortmund took the German Supercup for the second successive year with a 2-0 win over last season’s double winners Bayern Munich. Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang netted the goals for Dortmund to make sure the Supercup remains the only domestic trophy still to elude Bayern coach Pep Guardiola.

Line-ups:

Dortmund: Langerak – Piszczek, Sokratis, Ginter, Schmelzer (Durm 46’) – Kehl, Kirch – Hofmann, Mkhitaryan, Aubameyang (Ramos 63’) – Immobile

Bayern: Neuer – Boateng, Martínez (Dante 31’), Alaba – Hojbjerg (Götze 58’), Rode, Gaudino, Bernat – Müller (Lahm 46’), Lewandowski, Shaqiri

Goals: 1-0 Mkhitaryan (23’), 2-0 Aubameyang (62’)

Dortmund made the contest safe shortly after the hour-mark when Aubameyang combined with Piszczek, racing into the box to nod home the Dortmund right-back’s perfectly waited return cross, pulling a Spiderman mask out from his sock to celebrate.

Dortmund made it back-to-back Supercup triumphs for the second time in their history and a competition-leading fifth title overall.

Although it’s still a pre-season game, BVB will surely have bragging rights over Bayern as they start preparations for the upcoming season. Although superstars like Robben, Rues, Ribery and the likes are eased into first team action, the German Supercup was a spectacle to behold.

Now on to the Bundesliga we go!
