Delhi Dynamos FC’s midfielder Hans Mulder was delighted with his side’s tough performance as they earned their first point in the Indian Super League against Atletico De Kolkata in a 1-1 stalemate in Kolkata on Sunday. The Dutch-Spanish prodigy was exciting in his role as he bagged the ‘Amul’ fittest player of the match award.

The visiting Delhi Dynamos looked dangerous from the starting minutes of the game with Atletico De Kolkata seemingly fatigued with their approach. The game went up and down with Delhi Dynamos dominating the possession while Atletico de Kolkata waiting for the counter. However, deadlock was broken by Kolkata against the run of play when Wim Raymaekers brought down Fikru in the danger area, awarding a penalty to the hosts. Jofre scored from the spot sending Van Hout the other way. A moment of brilliance from Czech midfielder Pavel Elias equalized for the away team after a poor clearance from the Home defense, thus earning a vital point on Sunday.

Hans Mulder looked happy after his side did a great job to earn their first point against Atletico De Kolkata in a gripping encounter,  “They got a red card towards the end of the game, and if we had more time to play, maybe, we could have won here, because we were eleven on ten. In the end, it was a tough game, a few fights, but when we look at it tomorrow we’ll be happy with this point from Kolkata as they are a very good team,”  the 27-year old was quoted as saying by ISL’s official website.

The former NEC player heaped a lot of praise on the table toppers and also on its fans as they reckon to be a team to beat.  “In the midfield, I don’t have to mention names, of course, they have a great midfield and understand each other, speak the same language. I think that’s a plus point for Kolkata as it has a great crowd backing them through the season. It’s really important that the crowd supports you, its gives you energy on the field and you can feel it. All I can say is that it’s amazing to be here,”  he added.

Mulder believes it to be an honor to play alongside Italian legend Alessandro Del Piero and how his acquisition in the Hero Indian Super League is proving to be a dream come true for all.

The hard driving midfielder was not short of words for the domestic players in his team and later complimented as they are coping with the foreign recruits.

Delhi Dynamos will look to register their first win as they host their next game against a tough Chennaiyin FC side on 25th October at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium.
