Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is delighted with his side’s 3-0 win against Liverpool in the Champions’ League group stage at Anfield yesterday, but insists that it’s still too early to talk about winning the European tournament.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s brilliant opener in the 23rd minute put the Whites in the lead, before Karim Benzema piled on to the Reds’ misery by adding two more within the next 20 minutes, as Brendan Rodgers side were left to do some serious damage control at the end of the first half.

The English giants looked clueless throughout the second half, barring a few chances towards the end, it was a game fully dominated by the La Liga outfit, who gathered another three points and sit comfortably at the top of their group.

However, Ancelotti insists that despite the superb performances on the field, it’s still a long way to go for the defending champions, but hopes his side can repeat last year’s success and lift the trophy once again.

It’s a very, very important victory for us tonight. We are very happy, we played very well. We played some excellent football in a great atmosphere”, the Italian boss was quoted as saying by UEFA’s official website.

We played against a team who did everything they could to create problems for us but I think we managed to play our football throughout.

“Maybe it’s too soon to talk about a cycle. We certainly enjoyed what happened and we are really fighting very hard to repeat the success that made us very happy last season”, the 55-year-old added.

I think we’ve got a competitive squad that’s playing well and we’ve certainly got a huge desire for that to happen again this season.

Real Madrid will be hoping to continue their dominion over the Merseyside outfit when they will face Liverpool in the return leg of their group stage fixture at the Santiago Bernabeu on 4th November.
