Former England goal keeper David James is expected to be announced as the marquee signing of Kerala Blasters, the club which is co-owned by Sachin Tendulkar.

The 44-year-old, who retired in 2013, has a plethora of experience as he represented 9 clubs and made 805 appearances in his club career which spanned over 20 years. James also represented England 53 times.

North East United FC are looking at former Spanish international Joan Capdevilla as their marquee signing. The left back won the 2008 European cup with Spain and at 36 years of age might still prove to be a valuable addition to the squad.

In other news, former Manchester United and Arsenal defender Mikael Silvestre has been added to the pool of marquee players.

Silvestre said, “It (ISL) looks like it’s a big deal for Indian football. It’s a project that comes on the other side of the I-League. It is to attract more people and sponsors. It will be good for football in India generally.”
