The Stars

Anelka, Stohanzl and Souvik

Nicolas Anelka scored once again as he guided his Mumbai City FC to a tight victory. The Frenchman did show his glimpses of skills and dribbled past the Delhi Dynamos players with comfort. The ex-Chelsea striker was declared the Hero of the match for his overall staging against the mighty Delhi Dynamos.

Jan Stohanzl marshaled the Mumbai FC midfield well with France’s Johan Letzelter. The Czech midfielder was a determined player and was solid in the centre of the pitch for the hosts. He was the link in the attack for the Peter Reid’s side and exhibited great pace and stamina.

With the absence of Hans Mulder, Souvik Chakraborty took his place in the heart of midfield and was by far the best player for the Dynamos. He sat in front of the 4 man defense and distributed the ball quite well. The Mohun Bagan player looked to be a perfect replacement for the injured Mulder by taking his position relatively well.

The Flops

Junker, Shylo and Mondal

Mads Junker was an uninspired striker for the away side. He squandered a lot of chances provided from the right flank by Steven Dias. The Danish striker was rocky in this game and covered very little ground.

Shylo had a couple of decent games in his bag, but this surely wasn’t that better. He had a rare off-day for Van Veldhoven’s side and hardly troubled the Mumbai FC defense. The winger didn’t take much advantage with his speed against the tiring Mondal with no shots in the goal.

Being given the rare start in the starting 11 again, Deepak Mondal barely helped his team. Playing as a right-back, the expectations of overlapping runs weren’t fulfilled accordingly. When defending came into picture, the aging player looked fatigued.
