The Stars

Goossens, Gurung and Rehenesh

John Goossens’s introduction along with Dudu in the second half was inspiring for Pune City FC. The midfielder played with vigor and scored the solitary goal from a rebound for the hosts after Dudu’s shot hit the woodwork. The former NEC player looked lively and his decisive header gave a deserved win for Pune City FC.

Israil Gurung was a constant threat from the right wing for the NorthEast United FC. He worked his socks off from the right flank and created many attacks for his team. The 25 year old winger covered a lot of distance and could have scored in the first half with a long range shot, but was denied by TP Rehenesh.

Rehenesh TP was the undoubted difference between both the sides. His saves were crucial and kept NorthEast United in the game. The former ONGC keeper made half a dozen wonderful saves and his presence in the goal separated the two sides. The young short stopper’s current display for the Highlanders can well prove to be instrumental in his national team’s call.

The Flops

Durga, Do and Trezguet

Durga Boro did waste a lot of opportunities against Pune City FC. He did run a lot for his side but couldn’t give a much needed goal. The striker’s notable miss came when he couldn’t score from a delicious through ball which was cleared by Pune FC goalkeeper Arindam.

Dong Hyun Do was another player for Herbert’s side with absolutely no shine. Do as usual overran on most of the occasions and was without composure in the game. The South Korean lost the control of the ball often and contributed very little during attacks.

trezeguet

David Trezguet was hardly seen in the pitch for the home side. His presence with the ball wasn’t felt at all in the clash and was taken off in the second half. A sad outing followed for the French star after 2 solid games
