Barcelona was rocked by the announcement by club captain and legend Carlos Puyol.
The 35-year-old Spain defender was contracted until 2016, but reached an agreement with the club to rescind his contract early.
Puyol has made almost 400 league appearances for the reigning La Liga champions since his debut in 1999. He has cited his knee surgeries as the main reason for him to call it a day. What a legend!
