Manchester United’s Class-of ’92 are in the forefront of a bid to takeover the Red Devils.

The stage is set for a Gulf battle to start in the city of Manchester. The Sun reports in it’s exclusive edition that Manchester United’s famous Class of ’92 are going to be in the forefront of a takeover bid from the Oil-rich country of Qatar. Qatar, the hosts of the 2022 World Cup, are keen to announce to the world their love for football and what better way to do that than to buy one of the the biggest football clubs on the planet. It is also seen as a competition to the Abu Dhabi royal family, who of course own the football club of Manchester City.

The entire operation is said to be headed by the famous Class of ’92 players, and mainly through David Beckham who recently bought the MLS outfit at Miami. Beckham is set to have strong connections at PSG, which is again Qatari owned, where he played his game for a while and this is the main avenue through which the negotiations have kicked off. This seems to be a very serious development and this also saw the Manchester United stock rise 2% in the New York Stock Exchange in spite of the 3-0 drubbing. The club is currently valued at $2.6 billion.

The Sun has quoted reliable sources saying: “The Glazers have lost interest. Everyone knows the club is effectively for sale. It’s just a question of getting the right price where they recoup their money and make a bit to save face.”

The Sun also quotes finance expert David Bick: “The business itself is not worth £2billion, that would be a trophy bid. It would be from someone who wants to own United for prestige, not profit.”
