The I-League season might have ended but the clubs are back to the drawing board as the they contemplate what went wrong and what is to be done for the upcoming season.

Bengal side Mohun Bagan have appointed Subhash Bhowmick as their technical director for the next season. Bhowmick is set to replace Karim Bencherifa with a new coach after his abysmal run.

Bhowmick said, “Life is itself a challenge Every moment, from the time you get up till you go to sleep, is a challenge. Mohun Bagan is a big club who play to win trophies.

“The team has not won a trophy for some time and that responsibility lies with me now. The first priority is to build a good and balanced squad for the upcoming season, with the help of the technical committee, which has experienced members, and club officials. We will take it forward from there,” he added.

Their rivals East Bengal too sprang into action as they are set to unveil Nigerian striker Ranti Martins as their new signing. He had previously worked under coach Armando Colaco and has signed a 2-year contract.

Martins said, “He (Armando Colaco) is a like a role model. It’s important that the whole squad works together as a family and then only we can win a lot of trophies.”

Nigerian Odafa Okolie might have a reunion with Churchill Brothers after being released by Mohun Bagan. Churchill Alemao gave a hint that they might re-sign him soon, “Nobody guarantees you goals like Odafa. He is really a goal-scoring machine. Nobody will treat him as well as we have. We treated him as one of our own.”

Champions Bengaluru FC have released their midfielder Johnny Menyongar. The move comes as a surprise since the Liberian was a mainstay in Bengaluru’s midfield. On the other hand, striker Sean Rooney has been awarded with a new 2-year deal.
