Bengaluru FC inched closer towards the title with a victory over a struggling Mohun Bagan side, who are just two places above the relegation zone. Bengaluru are set to slog it out with Armando Colaco’s East Bengal who will be in contention if they win their games in hand and move to within one point of the Blues.

Do not rule out Goan side Salgaocar who still have a mathematical chance of winning the league, they will have to win their remaining games and hope that Bengaluru pick up only one point from their remaining games.

The battle for survival is as close as the battle for glory as there are up to 5 teams who can get relegated.

United SC and Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan face each other this weekend in a game which is being dubbed as relegation three pointer. United SC will move ahead of Mohun Bagan with a victory and will improve their chances of staying in the league. Mohammedan face Rangdajied and will have to get something out of the game to stay in the hunt for survival as fellow relegation candidates Churchill have four games in hand.

Churchill’s story has been nothing short of shocking as the current champions have had an abysmal season so far, partly because they have struggled to find the net on a consistent basis. Their players have failed to shine after their Federation Cup heroics which they won in January this year.

Among the relegation candidates, United SC and Mohammedan have some tough fixtures coming up and are the two teams who look likely to fight it out till the very end to stay in the league.
