The Stars

Kondwani, Koke and Subhash

Kondwani Mtonga was stationed in the midfield by NorthEast United FC Coach Rickie Herbert and it clicked big time. The tall centre-half scored the opener for his team against Mumbai City FC and was deservedly awarded the hero of the match. The Zambian’s combination with his team’s defense and attack was crisp, cementing their second victory in the ISL.

Koke once again was the standout player for the highlanders without any hesitation. He did not score today, but assisted with a chip to Kondwani and he went on to score for the visitors. The talismanic attacker dwelt into short passes and was often the link during NorthEast’s counter-attacks.

Subhash Singh showed his glimpses of unending grit and stamina time and again. The striker did his best to score for the team with his trigger runs, but failed. Though Mumbai City players were left shattered, Subhash never gave up and worked hard till the final blow of the whistle.

The Flops

Cmovs, Letzelter and Do Dong

Cmovs was clumsy in his tackles and looked indecisive while defending. He went on with his late challenges and was red carded in the second half for a rash tackle on Keene. Cmovs will miss in the next match which is surely a body blow for Peter Reid as the player himself has to be blamed for the indiscipline.

Letzelter was a weak player when compared to his Mumbai FC teammates. The French defender seemed irresolute most of the times and hardly helped his team in the second-half. The left-back didn’t look strong in his defensive midfield role and was booked for a tackle.

Do Dong proved to be a complete waste for NorthEast United in today’s encounter. The South Korean squandered a lot of balls on the left flank and overran quite a few times. He impressed Coach Herbert in his previous outings as a substitute but when granted a first team today, he was in shambles.
