Current Liga BBVA table toppers Atletico Madrid and former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly have lodged a combined bid to own the Kolkata team in the inaugural edition of Indian Super League (ISL).

Ganguly, who is from Kolkata, wanted to bid separately for the franchise, however Atletico wanted to form an alliance with Ganguly and approached him. “Dada”, as he is fondly known as, accepted the proposal as both the parties  bid for the franchise.

Elsewhere, John Abraham and Shillong Lajong have submitted a joint bid for the Guwahati franchise with former Indian football Skipper Bhaichung Bhutia also involved.

Retired Indian cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar is also involved with PVP ventures for the Kochi franchise along with  IPL’s Rajasthan Royals who are among the other bidders.
