Mourinho maintains unbeaten Quarter final run as Chelsea overcome a 3-1 deficit while rampant Dortmund crash out with heads held high..

Jose Mourinho maintains his Champions League Quarter Finals unbeaten run as he marshalled his Chelsea side to overcome a 3-1 against a lackluster Paris Saint-Germain side. Things weren’t looking good for Chelsea early in the first half as Eden Hazard had to come off injured. But substitute Andre Schürrle put the home side ahead on the 32nd minute from a Branislav Ivanovic throw.

Although PSG tried attacking the Chelsea defense at pace with the likes of Lucas Moura, Ezequiel Lavezzi and Edinson Cavani, they didn’t look like their usual best without their talisman and captain, Zlatan Ibrahimovic. It looked as if PSG would hold it at 1-0 till the end, until a certain Demba Ba came into the fray in the second half, to score what will be the most important goal for Chelsea this season! The match ended 2-0 with the Chelsea contingent in jubilation and PSG with broken hearts.

We now head to Germany, as we saw a Ronaldo-less Real Madrid hold on to their 3-0 lead to finish the game 3-2 in aggregate against a rampant Dortmund side. Dortmund started and ended the game at breakneck speed, never reducing the intensity, not looking to take a moments rest, they pressured the Spanish side relentlessly forcing them into schoolboy errors. Marco Reus stole the show with two first half goals, but the whole Dortmund team should be commended for their display.

Although Carlo Ancelotti’s side did get a penalty early in the first half, it took a wonderful save by Roman Weidenfeller to keep his side in the tie. But after that, it was a spirited Dortmund who looked to control the game with countless waves of attack, eventually scoring two goals. Los Blancos did get a few shots off on target, but nothing to worry the Dortmund keeper. But in the end, it was a jittery Madrid who are now through to their third successive semi-final of the Champions League as they look to bring home La Decima.
