The Guwahati franchise of the Indian Super League, owned by Bollywood actor John Abraham and I-League club, Shillong Lajongwill will be launched shortly this month. The required groundwork for the forthcoming Indian Super League (ISL) is going on steadily, and if this continues, the event could be organized without any major setbacks, felt the Assam Football Association.

The franchise was understandably happy to announce that actor John Abraham would very soon unveil the team colours and the official franchise name within the first week of this month. It was also confirmed that the franchise name will feature ‘Guwahati’ in it.

The Secretary of the Assam Football Association Ankur Dutta expressing satisfaction on the preparation of the ISL saying, 

The work to upgrade and renovate the infrastructure at the Sarusajai stadium started little late but now it looked like that the venue might be ready before the meet. The process to call tender for the upgradation of flood lights at the venue had already been completed and the work will also start very soon. On the other hand the renovation of ground work had already started.

The highly anticipated Indian soccer League is scheduled for take off in September and Guwahati would be one of the main venues. Expressing his happiness about Guwahati hosting ISL games, Dutta also added

I am eagerly waiting to see the successful competition of the Indian Super League in the city as it would help Guwahati to get select as one the venue for the U–17 World cup

The Assam based ISL side will include a total of nine overseas players, eight domestic players and four under-23 players, preferably local, along with a well-known marquee player, will be unveiled soon, and ready to take to the pitch come September.
