Mumbai City manager Peter Reid was jubilant with his team’s overall performance after his lads completed a historic 5-0 win against FC Pune in the Indian Super League at the D.Y.Patil stadium in Navi Mumbai previous night. It couldn’t have been a much better stage for Mumbai City to earn 3 valuable points in the ‘Maharashtra Derby’ after they were hopelessly beaten in their opener against Atletico De Kolkata.

Peter Reid’s men took in charge of the derby through a beautiful curler from Andre Moritz in the 12th minute of the game. Minutes later, he went on to double his goal tally after he flicked a goal from the corner-kick past Pune keeper Belardi. The third and the killer goal came in the first-half itself when young Subhash Singh fired a goal with a sudden burst of pace. It was all over for the FC Pune side as their nightmares continued in the second half when Andre Moritz completed his hat-trick with Johan Letzelter netting the 5th goal.

The Mumbai City manager heaped a lot of praise on his players after his team’s solid performance on Saturday singling out the Brazilian hat-trick hero Andre Moritz.

“It was a really good team performance. I don’t think there was any player who did not play well today”, the former Sunderland manager was quoted as saying by ISL’s official website.

The experienced Englishman didn’t expect a one-sided traffic from his boys and explained being discipline throughout the game by passing the ball around with ease. “Attacking-wise, we always looked very dangerous and the plan of pairing Subhash with Moritz worked because both players came up with the goods,” added the Mumbai city manager.

Reid believes to stay grounded and not have high sky expectations after the huge victory. “After we got beaten in Kolkata, everybody was disappointed. Now we’re happy but the next game is the most important,” he said.

“The support for the team was terrific. The crowd really got behind our side and it was a good atmosphere and I am really delighted for the players”, Reid added after witnessing a jam-packed crowd supporting the home team.

Mumbai City FC will host their next game against John Abraham’s NorthEast United FC at the D.Y Patil stadium on 24th October hoping to clinch their second victory of the tourney.
